About the Ship
Choice is truly king when sailing with Norwegian Star. Launched in 2001 and built expressly for Norwegian’s “Freestyle Cruising” format, Star offers choice at every turn: from swimming to eating to entertainment. This 965-foot, 92,000-ton vessel is capable of hosting 2,244 passengers, all of whom are encouraged by a boisterous and professional crew to do exactly what they want, when they want. No one is beholden to seating assignments or meal times on this vessel, although few passengers are able to experience every one of the ship’s 13 restaurants, and 10 bars and lounges.
Passengers aboard Star enjoy a modern, relaxed cruise experience--meaning no dining rules, no required formal wear, and no traditional ideas of recreation. Instead, this ship preaches fun, flexibility, and the art of instant gratification. Want to Start the day with a swim and a massage? No problem. Not in the mood for a buffet dinner? Choose from specialty restaurants including French, Asian, and Mexican fare. On Star, every passenger gets to choose his or her own perfect day.
Deck 12: Packed from bow to stern, Deck 12 has it all! From a first-class fitness center, hot tubs and pools, to the Spinnaker Lounge (head here for entertainment or just kick back and enjoy the amazing view from the large windows) or the popular Market Café, there’s plenty to do!
Barong Spa: What better way to escape from it all than indulging in a spa treatment? Choose from acupuncture, massages, facials—even tooth whitening.
Stardust Theater: With nightly shows, an attentive wait staff ferrying beverages, and a location just minutes from the staterooms, Stardust brings the entertainment! And as always, NCL offers options: Shows are conveniently at 7 and 9…for whatever fits that day’s schedule.
Star paves the way for modern cruising. The focus is on the desires of each and every passenger. Food is foremost on this floating restaurant district, but fitness and poolside fun aren’t far behind. (Despite the plethora of dining options, the ship attracts a fair amount of health-conscious passengers who take advantage of the Barong Spa, Fitness Center, and fitness programs.) Middle and upper-middle class Americans comprise the majority of passengers, and most are between the ages of 30 and 60. Families are quite common during school breaks, and both young and older couples can be found in abundance.
